Viva Las Vegas
I have discovered that being in Las Vegas for a week is not the best thing for someone trying to lose weight. With that being said, I actually did lose a pound while I was there. I was able to hit the gym at my hotel a few of the days I was there, and I tried to get in a lot of walking knowing that there would not be much walking once I got back home to all this snow.
I am pleased with my first month’s weight loss on this journey. It will be interesting to see how I stack up with the other people once everybody weighs in.

Vegas - Not a good place for weight loss
I was in Las Vegas this week with my family, and it definitely got me out of my routines (eating, exercise, and sleep). Hopefully, I do not mess up all the hard work I have done over the last month. The next weigh in is fast approaching, so I will need to work hard this week to accomplish my 1st month’s goal of 20 pounds.

Week Two in the Books
Another good week for myself with regards to exercise and food intake. I got through the weekend by losing a few pounds which is great for me considering in the past, I have struggled on the weekends by over eating, over drinking and not exercising. I did however, tweak something in my elbow late last week which has somewhat hampered my P90X workout routine. Hopefully, it is nothing serious, and it will get better soon.
The biggest difference I have noticed with this journey has been my focus on staying hydrated throughout the day. I am forcing myself to drink water even when not thirsty, and it allows me to go through the day with minimal cravings for food, especially in the evenings. The evenings in the past have been my downfall, where I would eat tons of empty calories. Hopefully, I am past that.
On to Week 3!!.

Week One Done
I had a great first week with both exercise (every day) and eating (moderate portions, 3-4 meals a day), and water intake (a gallon per day). However, I know from past weight loss adventures, the 1st week is always the easiest. Actually, the first month is rather easy I would say. So once March rolls around, that is when we shall see if the good times keep rolling.
I know many fitness gurus out there advise against weighing in every day, but I feel it helps me better evaluate what I do on a day-to-day basis, and then make adjustment accordingly. I have a digital scale, and so far I have lost at least .2 lbs each day since the weigh in.
While the weekend is usually my weakness, this past weekend was not bad at all. While I did not just eat anything in sight like I might normally do on a weekend, I was still able to eat some delicious foods I prepared (shrimp/scallop/lobster pizza, prime rib, and chocolate ice cream (fat free) with peanut butter).
The journey still has many weeks to come, but so far so good after Week One!

Here Comes the Weekend - My Weakness
So far the first week has gone as planned for me. I am eating right, working out every day, and I even got to run the stairs at a local high school earlier this week (I am in Arizona, so I need to take advantage of the weather while I can).
However, in the past when I have struggled with weight, the weekends have always been my downfall. My goal is to change that downfall on my road to my goal. This weekend will involve a good amount of walking as I plan on attending the PGA’s Waste Management Open and follow Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson around the course which should allow for plenty of additional exercise in addition to my regular routine. Hopefully on Super Sunday, I can manage my intake on the usual big game foods (wings, pizza, chips, etc). Go Steelers!
